Frome’s Missing Links have had a busy October running cycling themed activities at the Frome Independent market on Sunday 6th followed by a jam packed Ceilidh at the Cheese and Grain on Friday 11th.
We had a fabulous day at the October Frome Independent, where visitors browsed the bike jumble stall, had a go on the bike wheel of fortune, made fruit smoothies on the smoothie bike and were entertained by a square wheeled bike (see pictures). There was also an information table sharing the work Frome’s Missing Links are doing to connect traffic free walking and cycling routes in and around Frome. A team of volunteers worked incredibly hard to organise and run the activities and we raised a total of £1,322 on the day.
There was whirling and birling aplenty at the ceilidh which was held at the Cheese and Grain on the 11th October. £2,400 was raised for Frome’s Missing Links at what has now become an extremely popular annual occasion. The Bigger Little Biggar Band were inspired by the enthusiasm of the dancers and judged that, at jigging and reeling, Frome is unsurpassed South of the border!
Money raised is being spent on an Environmental Impact Assessment and other requirements as part of a planning application which will extend the path from Weylands in Frome, towards Selwood Lodge.
