Walls, fences and gates

Over the summer and autumn of 2026, work has been going on around the Spring Gardens end of our path and the new community woodland, known as Moko Woodland.

Our volunteers re-built the stone wall in the field where the community woodland is, and adapted the kissing gates so that a standard bicycle could be wheeled through. The new gates don’t make the woodland fully accessible from Whatcombe Fields, but they help to make it easier for families to get there without going on the road.

Many of the volunteers had helped with planting trees in the community woodland in March 2026, and the trees are doing well now, despite the difficult summer.

Volunteers have also helped erect fencing by the poplar woods at the end of Whatcombe Fields, in advance of creating a new route for the path that skirts around the existing slope.

We also have a new map and information board where you can join the path at Hapsford, showing how it fits in with the wider area.
