Many thanks to all of you who have pledged toward Surfacing Phase 2, as we have met our target of raising £20,000 from the community. If you still want to contribute, the Crowdfunder page is still open and taking donations. All funds received will go towards to surfacing of this section, which we expect to cost around £140,00.

What happens next

By raising this funding from the community, we have been able to unlock more funding from a generous private donor, Sport England, local communities funding at Somerset Council and Sustrans. This will help us meet the full cost of the tarmacking.

We must now make sure the work happens within the timescale set by the grant funding, and we are reviewing bids for the work already.

What we plan to do

All money raised will go towards putting a long-lasting tarmac surface on Phase 2 of the ‘missing link’, which runs from Great Elm to Hapsford. This is about 1.3km of path. Many hours of volunteer labour have taken us to the point where we are ready to complete this section – but now we need a proper surface, that will allow all users to enjoy the path, as well as ensuring it remains usable throughout the year.

If there is any funding left over once the surfacing has been paid for, it will go towards the next stage of the route, so we are always happy to have more contributions.

Please help – all donations, no matter how small, will help us build the path.
